Creamsicle #1

Goal

Recreate the Creamsicle ice cream bar as a cocktail using ingredients which have been designed specifically for this.

Spec

1oz Orange infused vodka (lightly dyed with amber gel food dye)
1oz Vanilla infused vodka
0.5oz Orange cheong
0.5oz Cointreau
1 Dash orange bitters
0.5oz Half and Half

What worked

Flavor – Immediately recognizable as “Creamsicle”. Not overly orange. Soft orange-flavored cream.
Coloring – Exactly orange-hued cream
Vodka – The combined, infused vodkas did exactly what the drink needed.
Sweetening – Orange cheong provided good viscosity and nice flavor base.

Notes

Flavor – Cointreau is a bit sharp
Dairy – Curdled, likely due to Cointreau addition
Dilution – Stirred worked well, however old-fashioned presentation feels redundant, unnecessary, and not emotionally correct.
Honestly, nearly nailed this on v1.

Next Step

Dilution – Stirred was nice, but strained over a large cube is not necessary. Shaken for v1.2
Glassware – The drink is asking for the Nick & Nora or a coupe. Especially if shaken ends up being the dilution method. Nick & Nora for v1.1
Cointreau – Removed for v1.1
Integration – If shaking, will test with eggless foamer. May get closer to an actual “Creamsicle” presentation with delicate white foam on top of the pale orange liquid.
As recommended, possibly integrate the dairy and cheong together via hydrocolloid (keeping this one in the back pocket).

Drink Score – 82.2%
