One Good Ritual

The Mental Laboratory is my way of prototyping, or designing, a cocktail before the liquid has ever reached the glass. When you see #1, the drink has already had multiple revisions in my imagination so that first experiment is more like revision #10.

I don’t have lofty goals like becoming a mixologist. I truly enjoy the drink designing phase and have really become enamored with turning an emotion or a memory into a drink. My Jersey Sazerac represents the New Jersey attitude, sharp and slow to open up. The Pink Pony became a fun, happy moment that lingers only until consumed. The Creamsicle is chasing that childhood memory of the creamsicle ice cream bar.

This is why my first experiments seem to land so close to the mark. I am working from a place where, in theory, the drink works so I am at the point of refinement, understanding where the drink is, and what it wants.

Updates to drinks will be made within the drink’s post as an amendment, rather than as an entire new post.
