Spa Water #1

Goal

I read about the White Linen and wanted to give it a go.

Spec

2oz Gin
0.75oz Eureka Lemon Cheong
0.5oz Elderflower Liqueur
Plain Sparkling Water
3 Cucumber slices

Observations

Lemon Cheong was subbed in lieu of fresh lemons for juice. I went with 0.75oz instead of 1oz this run because I was worried about it getting too sweet. I think this could have withstood a full 1oz of cheong.

I decided to call it a Spa Water because it truly evokes that cucumber refreshment water at a spa. It didn’t quite have that snap that you would expect from a lemony + cucumber drink. Which is why I could not call this a White Linen.

Drink is highly sessionable. This would easily be a patio pounder on a warm, mid-humidity day, kiddo causing trouble in the sandbox, light breeze.

Muddled cucumber worked well, but I think the heavy lifter was actually the cucumber ribbon on a garnish pick. The aroma here did wonders for the refreshment.

Future Direction

I would like to try adding some citric acid.
I think saline would wake this up a bit.
1oz lemon cheong will be the next step just to try and get a bit more brightness in there. Could also try lemon sparkling water instead of plain.
